MIAMI, FL (May 11, 2009) – The popular Panamanian singer MAKANO is NUMBER ONE on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs Chart with his international smash hit “Te Amo”. The song has dominated radio airplay throughout Latin America and now sits atop the radio charts in the United States and Puerto Rico. With this accomplishment, Makano solidifies his place as the most important Panamanian urban artist to hit the US.

The song has also become one of the most downloaded digital tracks and mobile ringtones in the US making Makano the most successful new artist at Machete Music in terms of digital and mobile sales. The music video for “Te Amo” has also become an online sensation with millions of views on the popular online portal Youtube, while it has also become one of most requested clips at video channels throughout the country.

The international success of the mega-hit “Te Amo” has led to collaborations with other Latin music stars. Puerto Rican duo, RKM & Ken-Y collaborated with Makano on the reggaeton remix of the track while the popular German Montero appears on the regional Mexican version of the hit single. Both versions have contributed to the chart-topping radio success of the single.

Makano spent last week in New York as part of his promotional efforts for his album “Te Amo” participating at key media activities including radio visits and press interviews. He also taped important television programs including MTV Tr3s "Entertainment as a Second Language", which experienced one of its highest ratings of the year with the Panamanian hit-maker's stellar performance of "Te Amo". Makano will travel to Miami, later this month to continue his United Sates promotional tour before returning to Panama.
